About me and my practice
I am a registered Counsellor with a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Practice with Families and Couples and an Msc in Counselling and Psychology. I work alongside my clients, looking at the client as an autonomous person and as part of a wider family unit.
I specialise in bereavement counselling, in which I have much experience having worked in a hospital bereavement support service for several years.
I particularly specialise in perinatal loss to include miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion as well as future pregnancies. I have worked with many families in this field and gained much experience in this as well as completing my dissertation on this topic at Masters Level.
I utilise an eclectic range of methods to include CBT, Brief Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Narrative therapy or Person Centred Counselling. I also utilise creative work, mindfulness and relaxation techniques as and when the client wishes. We agree which modalities to use I use in a collaborative manner based on what you, the client, feel most comfortable with. I adapt the therapy to fit the client rather than the other way around.
I do look forward to hearing from you and working together with you in a warm, supportive and empathic environment at a time and pace which suits you.
Experience
Over the past 17 years I have had a wealth of experience working with individuals, couples and families over a huge range of issues which they have bought. I have worked in private practice, in schools, in hospital and through online forums to name several. I am very comfortable taking on varied issues which clients bring and exploring them gently and carefully together with the benefit of the client always uppermost in mind.
